Business pages A short descreption of the company history and its presentation The people with vision, determination and capability to realize ideas, have brought the name Metropol into the world of international tourism. The beginnings go back to the year 1963. The company moved from Piran to Portorož and together with the gambling house Casino Portorož entered to make part of a complete tourist offer under the name of Metropol Resort Casino including hotels, restaurants, indoor and outdoor pools, garage, commercial area, congress center, Acqua Relax Center, Nocturno,... and many other contents related to gambling. The year 1992 saw Metropol changing its organisation and turning into a holding, thus creating the possibility to achieve new financial means by emiting shares and deciding to change course in hotel management. Eventually, in the years to come, the company was to be reorganised, thus creating the Company Grand Invest instead of two daughter-companies in the year 1998 and than the Grand Invest merged to Metropol Group d.d. at the end of 1999.
Grand Hotel Metropol was built and opened in the year 1972, hotel Roža in 1971, Hotel Lucija in 1963, Hotel Barbara in 1970 and restaurant Taverna in 1985. Between 1993 and 1999 all hotels and restaurants were thoroughly refurbished. Nowdays turist offer of the company Metropol Group d.d. includes: the main house Grand Hotel Metropol with the indoor and outdoor swimming pools and the beach and with the Acqua Relax Center; Hotel Roža, Hotel Lucija, Hotel Barbara, camping site Lucija and restaurant Taverna.
